We finally made it back to the States and we are loving it! The weather has been beautiful, allowing the kids much more outside time. The house is lovely. Its older and so we are discovering a few things here and there, but for the most part we really like it. For the first month, we were enjoying oma and opa's company. They helped us unpack and get settled. Hannah and Christian now have lots of room to play and run around!
Matthijs and opa spent a few days working on their pride: the playground! They did a great job and it is so nice to be able to simply walk out into our private yard and let them play. That especially helps my two nieces, Sarah and Alex, who are helping me take care of the kids this summer as I settle into my new law practice. Now they can just walk outside with the kids to play! Hannah especially loves playing soccer, swinging, sliding and climbing the monkey bars. Christina climbs up the slide every chance he gets or goes after the soccer ball.
We have also been making new friends and I have been building up a play date list for Hannah and Christian. We are lucky that the ward is chalk full of young families with similar aged children. On Wednesday's they organize a group playdate and we try to go when we can. This coming week will be at the Brox Zoo and we are all looking forward to that.
I joined the local Y and the kids already enjoyed three weeks of swimming classes. Christian played with me in the water and Hannah had lessons. She started out terrified and but ended up swimming a bit on her own! We are very proud of her. In a few weeks she will start ballet classes and we are both very excited :-) Last week we bought her her first pair of ballet shoes :-) We also are now regulars at the local library - an English library - gold!
My practice is starting to pick up and I am really enjoying working with my two partners. Matthijs has a long and exhausting commute but the people at his office are friendly and the work interesting. We are definitely enjoying this new adventure!
Christian is walking now and tries to practically run already. Its adorable but challenging to keep up with - he does love it! I have a cute video and hopefully I'll get to upload it soon.
