Yesterday, after church, we enjoyed another family afternoon celebrating the holidays. We bought a gingerbread village kit (nope, no making from scratch with this - lol) and had fun decorating and building the houses. Matthijs was the resident head foreman - polishing off, directing and re-building when needed. The last house we decided to skip and simply ate the gingerbread - lol. After our gingerbread fun, we sat as a family and watched a 5 minute video on the nativity scene/message to remember the true meaning of Christmas for our family. Christian was a little distracted but Hannah loved it. Next Sunday we are going to a friend's house for the children to act it out - so cute! Hannah cannot wait. Christian is always game :-)
The night before we enjoyed a girls night. Alex, Hannah and myself watching the Connecticut Ballet Company perform the nutcracker. It was my second viewing, but the first for both Alex and Hannah. They really enjoyed it (except for the theater being stifling hot!). Hannah spent about 2/3ds of the performance joining in from her seat - she was short enough to not block anyone's view as she stood in front of her seat and tried to perform all the moves. It was adorable! She is in her first year of ballet and, yes, she loves it! Next weekend her opa and uncle Wouter come for a quick visit. We are looking forward to it!
