This is our first year back in the USA and we are enjoying every minute! One of our favorite things is how fun and festive the holidays now are! We enjoyed Thanksgiving and Friday off from work - yahooo! On Thanksgiving, we relaxed and enjoyed the day. At dinner time, we ate up a yummy turkey dinner followed by delicious homemade pies (apple, pumpkin and pumpkin cheesecake). My niece made the pumpkin cheesecake all by herself and for the first time! It was delicious :-) On Friday, my niece Alex and Matthijs woke up at 3am to make it to Target and catch some special Black Friday sales (crazy, I know - I slept!). Later we finally put up our beautiful Christmas tree. Last year, when vacationing in the states, we bought our first fake tree on sale after Christmas. I LOVE it. Inspired by my step-mom, we chose an all silver theme and I think it looks wonderful! We did have personal ornaments as well but we cannot seem to find them in our stuff (hopefully they are in storage in The Netherlands and not lost). We do, however, have our Christmas stockings :-) And Matthijs hung up our new icicle lights!!! It has already been a perfect weekend....Friday was also our 6th anniversary...we celebrated it by going to the temple and hearing our vows again. That was incredibly romantic (we also celebrated the week before by attending The Netherlands' Club Stuyvesant Ball - gown, tux and all!) Today, after enjoying homemade scones and a family lesson on being thankful, we went to the local Y and enjoyed some indoor swimming!
All in all - a very good weekend! Tomorrow is church and making some homemade Christmas decorations - looking forward to it! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
