Hannah's bath

Today we were given our first lesson on how to bathe Hannah, as you can see from the pictures. Before the bath, she was weighed, which is the cute photo above with the little bag (which looks like what a stork would bring a baby in) and the little foot hanging out - sooo cute! She gained 80 grams since yesterday very good - we were so proud - we worked all night to give her good, milk feedings! Then we learned how to wash her in our little "tommy tub" which is great until she is about three months old and then we switch to the larger infant tub. Her face is getting cuter and her sowllen eyes should go away in the next few days.

Here, for 8 days after delivery, the parents enjoy what is called "kraamzorg". She is like a nurse who spends at least 4 hours a day with us (or atleast the mother) teaching us how to take her temperature, bathe her, feed her, etc. She makes sure her weight goes right and helps clean the house and checks the mother daily as well. It is absolutely fabulous! Matthijs' work is great and letting him work from home today and only a half day tomorrow. So he has been enjoying his "daddy lessons" of changing diapers, help me monitor the feeding and the different appointments we make for shots, etc. He also gets the fun job of running to the store and making sure we have everything we need. Really, it is so wonderful to have this kind of support system!
